The Secretary of Commerce shall contribute to the development of commercial data privacy policy by— convening private sector stakeholders, including members of industry, civil society groups, academia, in open forums, to develop codes of conduct in support of applications for safe harbor programs under subtitle F; expanding interoperability between the United States commercial data privacy framework and other national and regional privacy frameworks; conducting research related to improving privacy protection under this title; and conducting research related to improving data sharing practices, including the use of anonymised data, and growing the information economy.
