The purposes of this Act are— to create a predictable wood supply from National Forest System land that can be harvested, processed, and sold as wood products— to preserve and create jobs; to generate revenue to be shared with counties; and to strengthen rural economies; to reduce the uncertainty and costs to the Forest Service of planning and implementing timber management, forest restoration, and community wildfire protection projects on National Forest System land; and to promote the use of timber harvest as a method to achieve forest management goals on a portion of non-reserved National Forest System land.
