Not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Comptroller General of the United States shall conduct a one-time study of the relevant information disclosed by the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development in conjunction with the release of the annual actuarial report of the Secretary required under section 202(a)(4) of the National Housing Act ( 12 U.S.C. 1708(a)(4) ). In conducting the study required under subsection (a), the Comptroller General shall consult, as appropriate, with prominent United States academics with national recognition and significant depth of experience in the housing market and the performance of high loan-to-value lending.
In carrying out the study required under subsection (a), the Comptroller General shall review and make recommendations regarding— if a reasonable amount of relevant data and analyses are being disclosed by the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to the public, for research, in conjunction with the release of the annual actuarial report of the Secretary required under section 202(a)(4) of the National Housing Act ( 12 U.S.C. 1708(a)(4) ); and the disclosure by the Secretary of additional relevant data and analyses to the public, for research purposes.
Not later than 12 months after the release of the study required under subsection (a), the Comptroller General shall conduct an additional report regarding the actions of the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development in carrying out any recommendations of the Comptroller General made pursuant to subsection (c)(2).
