Part B of title I ( 29 U.S.C. 730 et seq. ), as amended by section 522, is further amended by adding at the end the following: From the funds reserved under section 110(d), and funds made available through other funding sources, each State shall ensure that the designated State unit, in collaboration with the local educational agencies involved and other appropriate entities, shall provide, or arrange for the provision of, pre-employment transition services. Each local office of a designated State unit shall designate staff to carry out the responsibilities of Local Pre-Employment Transition Coordinators for the local office, as well as appropriate staff to support the Coordinators in carrying out the responsibilities described in paragraph (2).
It shall be the responsibility of a Local Pre-Employment Transition Coordinator to— attend individualized education program meetings for students with disabilities, when invited; work with the local workforce development boards, one-stop centers, and employers to develop job opportunities for students with disabilities, including internships, summer employment opportunities and other employment opportunities available throughout the school year, and apprenticeships; and work with schools, including those carrying out activities under section 614(d)(1)(A)(i)(VIII) of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (20 U.S.C. 1414(d)(1)(A)(i)(VIII)), to coordinate and ensure the provision of pre-employment transition services for students with disabilities, including services described in clauses
(i)through
(v)of section 7(30)(B). The Secretary of Education and the Secretary of Labor shall each designate a lead staff person to fulfill the responsibilities of a National Pre-Employment Transition Coordinator for Students with Disabilities. The National Pre-Employment Transition Coordinators shall work cooperatively, and with other Federal agencies including the Corporation for National and Community Service, to develop and coordinate— agency policies related to pre-employment transition services; and resources to increase job opportunities for students with disabilities, including internships, summer employment opportunities and other employment opportunities available throughout the school year, and apprenticeships. Nothing in this subsection shall be construed to prohibit either Secretary from assigning additional responsibilities, other than the responsibilities described in this subsection, to a staff person designated under this subsection. .
