Section 101 of the Older Americans Act of 1965 ( 42 U.S.C. 3001 ) is amended— by striking paragraph
(1)and inserting the following: An adequate income and economic security in later life in accordance with the American standard of living. ; in paragraph (4), by inserting care coordination and after including ; by striking paragraphs
(9)and
(10)and inserting the following: Immediate benefit from proven research knowledge which can sustain and improve health, happiness, and economic security. Freedom, independence, economic security, and the free exercise of individual initiative for older individuals in planning and managing their own lives, full participation in the planning and operation of community-based services and programs provided for their benefit, and protection against abuse, neglect, and exploitation. ; and by adding at the end the following: Acquiring high-quality services in a manner that is culturally and linguistically responsive to older individuals and family caregivers. .
