Section 107(c)(3)(A)(i) of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 (22 U.S.C. 7105 (c)(3)(A)(i)) is amended— by inserting or may be a victim of a severe form of trafficking before and may be a potential witness ; and by adding after the period at the end the following: If a request for continued presence is made to a Federal law enforcement official, such official shall respond to the request not later than 15 days after the date on which such request was made, stating whether the official has filed the application for continued presence with the Secretary of Homeland Security and, if not, whether the official expects to do so.
Not later than one month after the date on which such an application is filed, the Secretary of Homeland Security shall approve or deny that application. .
