Sec. 7. Grants for gun safety education programs

The Attorney General is authorized to provide grants to units of local government to enable law enforcement agencies to develop and sponsor gun safety classes for parents and their children. Any unit of local government that desires to receive a grant award under this section shall submit an application to the Attorney General at such time, in such manner and containing such information as the Attorney General may reasonably require. Each application referred to in paragraph
(1)shall include an assurance that— funds received under this section shall be used only to provide funds to law enforcement agencies to provide gun safety classes; and gun safety classes will be offered at times convenient to parents, including evenings and weekends. The Attorney General shall issue any regulations necessary to carry out this section.
