The first section of Public Law 89–732 (November 2, 1966; 8 U.S.C. 1255 note) is amended— in the next to last sentence, by inserting , permanent partner, after spouse the first two places it appears; and in the last sentence, by inserting , permanent partners, after spouses . Section 101(a)(51)(D) ( 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(51)(D) ) is amended by striking or spouse and inserting , spouse, or permanent partner .
