Sec. 217. Limitation on availability of funds for hosted payload and wide field of view testbed of the space-based infrared systems

Of the funds authorized to be appropriated by this Act or otherwise made available for fiscal year 2015 for research, development, test, and evaluation, Air Force, for the hosted payload and wide field of view testbed of the space-based infrared systems program, not more than 50 percent may be obligated or expended on alternative approaches to the program of record of such program until— the completion of the ongoing analysis of alternatives for such program of record; and a period of 60 days has elapsed following the date on which the Secretary of the Air Force and the Commander of the United States Strategic Command jointly provide to the appropriate congressional committees a briefing on the findings and recommendations of the Secretary and Commander under such analysis of alternatives, including the cost evaluation of the Director of Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation.
The limitation in subsection
(a)shall not apply to efforts to examine and develop technology insertion opportunities for the program of record specified in subsection (a). In this section, the term appropriate congressional committees means the following: The congressional defense committees. The Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence of the House of Representatives. The Select Committee on Intelligence of the Senate.
