Section 330(a) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1993 ( Public Law 102–484 ; 10 U.S.C. 2687 note) is amended— in paragraph (1)— by striking paragraph
(3)and inserting paragraph
(4); and by striking paragraph
(2)and inserting paragraph
(3); by redesignating paragraphs
(2)and
(3)as paragraphs
(3)and (4), respectively; in paragraph (4), as redesignated, by striking paragraph
(2)contributed to any such release or threatened release, paragraph
(1)and inserting paragraph
(3)contributed to any such release or threatened release, paragraph
(1)or
(2); and by inserting after paragraph
(1)the following new paragraph (2): The responsibility of the Secretary of Defense to hold harmless, defend, and indemnify in full certain persons and entities described in paragraph
(3)also applies with respect to any military installation (or portion thereof) that— was closed during the period beginning on October 24, 1988, and ending on the date of the enactment of this paragraph, other than pursuant to a base closure law; and remains under the jurisdiction of the Department of Defense as of the date of the enactment of this paragraph. .
