Subsection
(e)of section 5911 of title 5, United States Code, is amended— by striking The head and inserting
(1)Except as provided in paragraph (2), the head ; and by adding at the end the following new paragraph: The Secretary of Defense may require an employee of the Department of Defense or a member of the uniformed services under the Secretary’s jurisdiction performing duty on official travel to occupy adequate quarters on a rental basis when available. A requirement under subparagraph
(A)with respect to an employee of the Department of Defense may not be construed to be subject to negotiation under chapter 71 of this title. . Subsection (a)(5) of such section is amended by inserting or commercial lodging arranged through a Government lodging program after leased by the Government .
