Not later than one year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall carry out an antimicrobial stewardship program at medical facilities of the Department of Defense. In carrying out the antimicrobial stewardship program required by subsection (a), the Secretary shall develop a consistent manner in which to collect and analyze data on antibiotic usage, health issues related to antibiotic usage, and antimicrobial resistance trends at medical facilities of the Department.
Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall submit to the Committees on Armed Services of the House of Representatives and the Senate a plan for carrying out the antimicrobial stewardship program required by subsection (a).
