Section 1822(b)(1) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 ( 20 U.S.C. 6561a(b)(1) ) is amended— in subparagraph (I), by striking and after the semicolon; in subparagraph (J), by striking the period and inserting ; and ; and by adding at the end the following: implementing 21st century readiness initiatives, such as initiatives that fuse core academic subject knowledge and higher-order thinking skills (such as critical thinking and problem solving, communication, collaboration, creativity, and innovation) to ensure students can apply a range of skill competencies alongside content knowledge, and do so in real-world contexts. .
