Title V of the Public Health Service Act is amended by inserting after section 520K ( 42 U.S.C. 290bb–42 ) the following: The Secretary, acting through the Administrators of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and the Health Resources and Services Administration, shall award grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements to eligible entities for the provision of coordinated and integrated mental health services and primary health care. To be eligible to seek a grant, contract, or cooperative agreement this section, an entity shall be a public or nonprofit entity.
An eligible entity receiving an award under this section shall use the award for the provision of coordinated and integrated mental health services and primary health care through— the co-location of mental health services in primary care settings; the use of care management services to facilitate coordination between mental health and primary care providers; the use of information technology (such as telemedicine)— to facilitate coordination between mental health and primary care providers; or to expand the availability of mental health services; or the provision of training and technical assistance to improve the delivery, effectiveness, and integration of mental health services into primary care settings.
To carry out this section, there are authorized to be appropriated such sums as may be necessary for fiscal years 2014 through 2018. .
