Section 1408(h) of the National Agricultural Research, Extension, and Teaching Policy Act of 1977 ( 7 U.S.C. 3123(h) ) is amended by striking 2012 and inserting 2018 . Section 1408(c) of the National Agricultural Research, Extension, and Teaching Policy Act of 1977 ( 7 U.S.C. 3123(c) ) is amended— in paragraph (1)— by striking Committee on Appropriations of the Senate and all that follows through the semi-colon and inserting Committee on Appropriations of the Senate on— ; and by adding at the end the following new subparagraphs: long-term and short-term national policies and priorities consistent with the purposes specified in section 1402 for agricultural research, extension, education, and economics; and the annual establishment of priorities that— are in accordance with the purposes specified in a provision of a covered law (as defined in subsection
(d)of section 1492) under which competitive grants (described in subsection
(c)of such section) are awarded; and the Board determines are national priorities. ; in paragraph (3), by striking and at the end; in paragraph (4)— in subparagraph (B), by striking the national research policies and priorities set forth in inserting national research policies and priorities that are consistent with the purposes specified in ; and in subparagraph (C), by striking the period at the end and inserting ; and ; and by adding at the end the following new paragraph: consult with industry groups on agricultural research, extension, education, and economics, and make recommendations to the Secretary based on that consultation. .
