Section 202(h) of the Food for Peace Act ( 7 U.S.C. 1722(h) ) is amended— in paragraph (1)— in the matter preceding subparagraph (A)— by striking The Administrator shall use funds made available for fiscal year 2009 and inserting In consultation with the Secretary, the Administrator shall use funds made available for fiscal year 2013 ; and by inserting to establish a mechanism after this title ; by striking and at the end of subparagraph (B); and by striking subparagraph
(C)and inserting the following new subparagraphs: to evaluate, as necessary, the use of current and new agricultural commodities and products thereof in different program settings and for particular recipient groups, including the testing of prototypes; to establish and implement appropriate protocols for quality assurance of food products procured by the Secretary for food aid programs; and to periodically update program guidelines on the recommended use of agricultural commodities and food products in food aid programs to reflect findings from the implementation of this subsection and other relevant information. ; in paragraph (2), by striking The Administrator and inserting In consultation with the Secretary, the Administrator ; and in paragraph (3), by striking section 207(f) and all that follows through the period at the end and inserting the following: section 207(f)— for fiscal years 2009 through 2013, not more than $4,500,000 may be used to carry out this subsection; and for fiscal years 2014 through 2018, not more than $1,000,000 may be used to carry out this subsection. .
