Section 2123(a) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 ( 20 U.S.C. 6623(a) ) is amended by inserting after paragraph
(8)the following: Developing and implementing strategies to assist in recruiting and retaining highly qualified school library media specialists; and providing appropriate professional development for such specialists, particularly related to skills necessary to assist students to improve the students' academic achievement, including skills related to information literacy. .
