Sec. 1532. Future role of Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization

Not later than 60 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to the congressional defense committees a report on the future plans of the Department of Defense for the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization (JIEDDO). The report required by subsection
(a)shall include the following elements: An analysis of alternatives considered in determining the future plans for JIEDDO. If the Secretary of Defense plans to discontinue JIEDDO— a description of how JIEDDO’s major programs and capabilities will be integrated into other components within the Department of Defense or discontinued; and a statement of the estimated costs to other components of the Department for any JIEDDO programs and capabilities that are reassigned to such components. If the Secretary of Defense plans to continue JIEDDO— a statement of the expected mission of JIEDDO; a description of the expected organizational structure for JIEDDO, including the reporting structure and lines of authority within the Department and personnel strength, including contractors; and a statement of the estimated costs and budgetary impacts related to implementing any changes to the mission of JIEDDO and its organizational structure. A timeline for implementation of the selected alternative described in paragraph
(2)or (3). A description on how the Department will identify and incorporate lessons learned from establishing and managing JIEDDO and its programs.
