Section 931(a) of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 ( 42 U.S.C. 17371(a) ) is amended— in the subsection heading, by striking and inserting Coordinator for ; and Coordination of in paragraph (2)— in the paragraph heading, by striking and inserting coordinator for ; and coordination of by striking There is established within the Office of the Secretary of State a Coordinator for International Energy Affairs, and inserting in lieu thereof the following: There is established within the Department of State a Bureau for Energy Resources, to be headed by an Assistant Secretary, .
The Secretary of State may transfer any authority, duty, or function assigned to the Coordinator for International Energy Affairs or to the Office of International Energy Affairs to the Assistant Secretary for Energy Resources or to the Bureau for Energy Resources (as the case may be). Section 1(c)(1) of the State Department Basic Authorities Act of 1956 ( 22 U.S.C. 2651a ), as amended by this Act, is further amended by striking 25 and inserting 26 . Section 5315 of title 5, United States Code, as amended by this Act, is further amended in the item relating to Assistant Secretaries of State, by striking
(25)and inserting
(26).
