28-2209. Commercial vehicle fleet license plates; fund

A. The department may issue a commercial vehicle fleet license plate in a manner determined by the department to a person that pays a fee described in subsection B or C of this section.
B. A fleet with more than one hundred commercial vehicles may apply for a commercial vehicle fleet license plate with the fleet's approved logo in a standard location on the license plate as designed by the fleet and approved by the department. The department may charge the fleet a fee in an amount to be determined by the director for the initial design and administration of the plate in addition to the registration fee required by section 28-2003. The department may establish design guidelines to help streamline the approval process and minimize the costs.
C. A fleet with more than twenty-five commercial vehicles may apply for a commercial vehicle fleet license plate with the fleet's name placed on the bottom of the license plate as designed by the fleet and approved by the department. The department may charge the fleet a fee in an amount to be determined by the director for the initial design and administration of the plate in addition to the registration fee required by section 28-2003. The department may establish design guidelines to help streamline the approval process and minimize costs.
D. The commercial vehicle fleet license plate fund is established consisting of monies collected pursuant to this section. The director shall administer the fund. The director shall use the monies for the implementation of this section. Monies deposited in the commercial vehicle fleet license plate fund are continuously appropriated and are exempt from the provisions of section 35-190 relating to lapsing of appropriations.
