A. For communications related to a motor vehicle insurance policy's claims process and in addition to other forms of communication, an insurer that conducts business in this state shall accept electronic content submissions and communications through a method that is designated by the insurer as an acceptable form of communication between the insurer and the claimant or the claimant's authorized representative. Electronic content submissions and communications may include time-sensitive documents and demands. The insurer shall respond with an acknowledgment of receipt within ten business days.
B. A motor vehicle insurer may accept a fax as a form of communication if another form of electronic communication is also available.
C. For the purposes of this section, "claimant" includes a third-party claimant.
