Sec. 08.76.370. Claim notification.
(a)If a person believes that property in the possession of a pawnbroker was misappropriated from the person, and if the person wants to obtain possession of the property from the pawnbroker, the person shall first notify the pawnbroker by certified mail, return receipt requested, of the person's claim.
(b)A notice under
(a)of this section must contain a complete and accurate description of the property and must be accompanied by proof that the claimant owns the property and, if the claimant alleges that the property was stolen, a legible copy of a law enforcement agency's report indicating that the property was stolen.
(c)Except as provided in AS 08.76.380 , a pawnbroker may not, for 30 days after the pawnbroker receives notice of the claim under this section, dispose of property that is the subject of a claim.
