Res., No. 11](/us/bill/70/pubres/11).] *Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,* That the Director of PublicSamuel Gompers.Erection authorized of monument to, on public grounds in the District. Buildings and Public Parks of the National Capital be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to select a suitable site and to grant permission to William Green, president, and Frank Morrison, secretary, of the American Federation of Labor, for the erection, as a gift to the people of the United States, on public grounds of the United States in the city of Washington, District of Columbia, other than those of the Capitol, the Library of Congress, the Mall, and White House, of a stone monument in memory of Samuel Gompers: *Provided*, That the site chosen and the design of the memorial shall*Proviso*.Site and design subject to approval of Commission of Fine Arts, etc. be approved by the Joint Committee on the Library, with the advice of the Commission of Fine Arts, that it shall be erected under the supervision of the Director of Public Buildings and Public Parks of the National Capital, and that the United States shall be putNo Government expense. to no expense in or by the erection of the monument.
