April 9, 1898. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That to carry out the provisionsJohn Roach, payment to heirs. of the Act making appropriations for the naval service for the fiscal year ending June thirtieth, eighteen hundred and eighty-four (Twenty second Statutes, page four hundred and seventy-seven), theVol. 22, p. 477.
Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay to the legal representatives of John Roach, deceased, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of three hundred and thirty thousand one hundred and fifty-one dollars and forty-two cents for labor and material and dockage furnished by said Road) and detention and occupation of his yards and shops by the—to be in full for claims on account of construction of U. S. gunboats, Chicago, etc.
United States for the gunboats Chicago, Boston, and Atlanta, which sum is in full and final settlement of all claims and damages between the United States and said legal representatives of John Roach, deceased, growing out of the construction of said vessels. Approved, April 9, 1898.
