CHAP. 846.— An act for the relief of Sidney R. Smith.August 2, 1886. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*,Sidney R. Smith.Payment to. That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay to Sidney R. Smith, late a sergeant in the Thirty-third Regiment of New Jersey Infantry Volunteers, the pay and allowances of a second lieutenant of infantry from the tenth day of March, eighteen hundred and sixty-four, the date at which he was assigned to duty under his commission as such, to the date of his actual discharge from service, deducting therefrom the pay received by him as sergeant during said period.
Sec. 2. That the Secretary of War be, and he is hereby, authorizedRecord amended. and directed to amend the record of the said Sidney R. Smith and to muster him as a second lieutenant of infantry, to date March tenth, eighteen hundred and sixty-four, the date at which he entered upon duty under the commission issued to him by the governor of the State of New Jersey as of that rank.
