CHAP. 15.— An Act to amend an act entitled “An act making appropriations for the construction, repair, preservation, and completion of certain works on rivers and harbors and for other purposes”, approved March third, eighteen hundred and seventy-nine.June 10, 1879.1879, ch. 181,20 Stat., 304,370. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*,River improvements. That such parts of the monies heretofore appropriated by the act of which this is amendatory for the Great Kanawha Ri ver.Kentucky River.improvement of the Great Kanawha River in West Virginia and the Kentucky River in the State of Kentucky as may be necessary in the prosecution of said improvements as undertaken may be expended in Purchase of land.the purchase, voluntary or by condemnation as the case may be, of such *Proviso.*sites as are necessary in the prosecution of said improvements; *Provided, *That such expend!! urc shall be under the direction of the Secretary of 9 FORTYSIXTH CONGRESS.
Sess. I. On. 15, 16, 17. 1879. War: *And provided further,* That if the owners of such lands or sitesCondemnation. shall refuse to sell the same at reasonable prices, then the prices to be paid shall be determined and the title and jurisdiction procured in the manner prescribed by the laws of the State in which such lands or sites are situated.
