45:9-54. Receipt of bodies from other counties

Any association organized under this article may apply for and receive from any county in this state dead human bodies which may be required to be buried at the public expense and are not claimed by any kindred or relation, as provided in section 45:9-49 of this title, and any public officer or agent, or any person in charge of a public institution as enumerated and set forth in said section 45:9-49 may deliver such body under the restriction of such section to any association organized under this article in any county in this state.
When any such association shall have been organized in any county, no body shall be removed to another county until the association or associations within said county has an opportunity to receive it.
