40:68-31. Petition for nomination

Candidates for election for the office of commissioner shall be nominated by petition. Such petition shall be addressed to the clerk of the municipality wherein the district is situate and shall contain the signatures of at least 10 qualified voters, residents of the district, and shall state that they indorse the candidate or candidates named in such petition for a member of the " Beach Erosion Control Commission." The petition shall further state the residence and post-office address of each person so indorsed and shall certify that the person so indorsed is legally qualified to be a member of the Beach Erosion Control Commission.
With the petition, the person or persons indorsed therein shall file a certificate stating that he is qualified to be elected a member of the Beach Erosion Control Commission, that he consents to stand as a candidate for such election and that, if elected, he agrees to accept and qualify as a member of such commission.
