2. a. No person confined in a correctional or juvenile facility or involuntarily committed who is required to register under the provisions of P.L.1994, c.133 (C.2C:7-1 et seq.) shall be released from that confinement prior to expiration of sentence or termination from supervision or of custody, as the case may be, until the address set forth on his form of registration as his proposed place of residence has been verified as valid in accordance with procedures established by the Attorney General, which shall include provisions governing written notification of appropriate State and local officials.
The address verification shall take place prior to the scheduled date of release and shall be provided to the department to which the individual is confined or committed or the commission, as appropriate. Nothing in this section shall be construed to require a person to be held in confinement or involuntary commitment beyond the date of expiration of that person's sentence, termination from supervision, or judicially ordered termination of custody, as the case may be.
b. No person under supervision in the community on probation, parole, furlough, work release or any similar program who is required to register under the provisions of P.L.1994, c.133 (C.2C:7-1 et seq.) shall be released from that supervision until the address set forth on his form of registration as his proposed place of residence has been verified as valid. The address verification shall take place prior to the scheduled date of release.
