27:7-68. Agreements between commissioner and county or municipality; costs

The commissioner may enter into agreements with any county or municipality or any authority or agency thereof, or with any authority, board, commission or other agency or instrumentality created by any 2 or more units of local government or by the State government or by any interstate compact or agreement to which this State is a party, for the installation, construction, maintenance, repair, renewal and removal of tracks, pipes, mains, conduits, cables, wires, towers, poles, and other equipment and appliances or utility facilities owned by such public bodies which are in, on, along, over or under any road over which the department has jurisdiction, where such agreement is required to carry out a transportation project of the department.
The department may assume the entire cost incurred under the terms of such agreements.
