§9–2431.
(a)Except as otherwise provided in this subtitle, an unlicensed individual may not:
(1)provide, attempt to provide, or offer to provide sign language interpretation services in the State unless licensed by the Board;
(2)use or attempt to use the license of another individual; or
(3)impersonate another individual who holds a license.
(b)An individual may report a violation of subsection
(a)of this section to the Board within 180 days after the date of the alleged violation if the individual is:
(1)a party to the provision of the sign language interpretation services;
(2)harmed as a result of the alleged violation; or
(3)the guardian of the deaf or hard of hearing individual receiving the sign language interpretation services, if the deaf or hard of hearing individual is a minor or has been appointed a guardian of the person of a disabled person under § 13–705 of the Estates and Trusts Article.
(1)If the Board finds a violation of subsection
(a)of this section, the Board shall provide written notice to the individual specifying the violation found.
(2)The Board may impose a fine not to exceed $500 for each violation.
(3)In determining the amount of the fine imposed under paragraph
(2)of this subsection, the Board shall consider the severity of the violation and whether the violation constitutes a pattern of improper conduct.
