Section 641(a)(4) of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 ( 8 U.S.C. 1372(a)(4) ) is amended— by striking Not later than 30 days after the deadline for registering for classes for an academic term and inserting Not later than 30 days after the program start date (in the case of new students) or the next session start date (in the case of continuing students) of an academic term ; and by striking shall report to the Immigration and Naturalization Service any failure of the alien to enroll or to commence participation. and inserting shall report to the Department of Homeland Security any failure to enroll or to commence participation by the program start date or next session start date, as applicable. .
