Section 5 of the Combating Human Trafficking in Commercial Vehicles Act ( Public Law 115–99 ; 131 Stat. 2243) is amended— in subsection (b)— in paragraph (1), by striking 15 and inserting 16 ; and in paragraph (2)— in subparagraph (B), by striking and at the end; in subparagraph (C), by striking the period at the end and inserting ; and ; and by adding at the end the following: State departments of transportation. ; and in subsection (c)— by striking Not later than and inserting the following:
Except as provided in paragraph (2), not later than ; and by adding at the end the following: The Secretary shall appoint the member described in subsection (b)(2)(D) by not later than 9 months after the date of enactment of the Combating Trafficking in Transportation Act . .
