In this section: The term City means the city of Boulder City, Nevada. The term Federal land means the public land that was reserved to the United States, as described in item 2 under exhibit B of Patent Nev–048100, which was created pursuant to Public Law 85–339 (72 Stat. 31). On request of the City, the Secretary shall convey to the City, without consideration, all right, title, and interest of the United States in and to the Federal land, except as otherwise provided in this section. The Federal land conveyed under subsection
(b)shall be subject to valid existing rights. The Secretary shall continue to have administrative authority over the Federal land conveyed under subsection
(b)after the date of the conveyance. If the Federal land conveyed under subsection
(b)ceases to be used for the public purpose for which the Federal land was conveyed, the Federal land shall revert to the United States, at the discretion of the Secretary, if the Secretary determines that reversion is in the best interest of the United States. If the Secretary determines under paragraph
(1)that the Federal land should revert to the United States and that the Federal land is contaminated with hazardous waste, the City shall be responsible for remediation of the contamination of the Federal land.
