The Comptroller General of the United States shall conduct a study to determine the feasability and advisability of establishing an independent body to design and implement educational curricula for schools operated by the Department of Defense Education Activity. The study shall address— how such an independent body could be established and structured; who should be appointed to such a body; how such body could maintain independence to ensure it is insulated from political influence and changing priorities of the Executive Branch; and such other factors as the Comptroller General determines appropriate.
Not later than 270 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Comptroller General shall submit to the appropriate congressional committees a report on the results of the study conducted under subsection (a). In this section, the term appropriate congressional committees means— the Committee on Armed Services and the Committee on Education and Workforce of the House of Representatives; and the Committee on Armed Services and the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions of the Senate.
