Section 907(b) of the Emergency Supplemental Act, 2002 ( 2 U.S.C. 1901 note) is amended by striking the Assistant and inserting an Assistant . Section 3(a) of the United States Capitol Police Administrative Technical Corrections Act of 2009 ( 2 U.S.C. 1911 ) is amended— in paragraph (1), by striking ‘‘who shall report to’’ and all that follows and inserting the following: who shall report to the Chief of the Capitol Police and who shall serve at the pleasure of the Chief of the Capitol Police and the Capitol Police Board. ; and in paragraph (2), by striking after consultation with and inserting with the approval of .
Section 1018(e)(1) of the Legislative Branch Appropriations Act, 2003 ( 2 U.S.C. 1907(e)(1) ), is amended by adding at the end the following: The Chief may not designate an officer, member, or employee as a Deputy Chief or Assistant Chief of the Capitol Police without the approval of the Capitol Police Board. An officer, member, or employee designated as a Deputy Chief or Assistant Chief of the Capitol Police shall serve at the pleasure of the Chief of the Capitol Police and the Capitol Police Board. .
This section and the amendments made by this section shall apply with respect to any individual serving as a Deputy Chief appointed by the Chief of the Capitol Police, an Assistant Chief of the Capitol Police, the Chief Administrative Officer of the United States Capitol Police, or the General Counsel to the Chief of Police and the United States Capitol Police on or after the date of the enactment of this Act.
