Section 2 of the Department of Housing and Urban Development Act ( 42 U.S.C. 3531 ) is amended— in the section heading, by inserting after ; mission of department ; purpose by inserting
(a)after Purpose .— ; and Sec . 2. by adding at the end the following new subsection: The mission of the Department of Housing and Urban Development shall be to create strong, sustainable, inclusive communities and quality affordable homes for all. The Department shall work to strengthen the housing market to bolster the economy and protect consumers, meet the need for quality affordable rental homes, utilize housing as a platform for improving quality of life, build inclusive and sustainable communities free from discrimination, and transform the way the Department does business. .
