Sec. 80311. Long-Term Contracts for the Forest Service

For each of fiscal years 2025 through 2034, the Chief of the Forest Service (in this section referred to as the Chief ) shall enter into not less than one long-term contract or agreement with private persons or other public or private entities under section 14(a) of the National Forest Management Act ( 16 U.S.C. 472a(a) ) with respect to covered National Forest System lands in each region of the Forest Service that contains covered National Forest System lands. Except as provided in paragraphs
(2)and (3), the Chief shall enter into contracts or agreements under subsection
(a)in accordance with section 3903 of title 41, United States Code, and section 14 of the National Forest Management Act ( 16 U.S.C. 472a ). The period of a contract or agreement under subsection
(a)shall be for at least 20 years, with options for extensions and renewals as determined by the Chief. A contract or agreement entered into under subsection
(a)shall include provisions for a cancellation ceiling consistent with section 604(d) of the Healthy Forests Restoration Act of 2003 ( 16 U.S.C. 6591c(d) ). Any monies derived from an agreement or contract under this section by the Chief shall be deposited in the general fund of the Treasury. In this section, the term covered National Forest System lands means the proclaimed National Forest System lands reserved or withdrawn from the public domain of the United States.
