Not later than 18 months after the date of enactment of this Act, the Comptroller General of the United States shall conduct a study to evaluate the Nutrition Services Incentive Program under section 311 ( 42 U.S.C. 3030a ) (referred to in this section as the Program ). The study under this section— shall— include an assessment of how States and Tribal organizations use funding provided under the Program, including the degree to which States and Tribal organizations use such funding to procure food products from local or regional producers for meals supported under the Program; and identify any challenges or barriers to increasing the use of local and regional producers under the Program; and may make recommendations related to improving the effectiveness of the Program, including with respect to the use of local and regional producers.
