Section 114 (20 U.S.C. 9514) is amended— in subsection (a), by striking Except as provided in subsection (b)(2), the and inserting The ; by striking subsection
(b)and inserting the following: Except as provided in subparagraph (B), the Director shall serve for a term of 6 years, beginning on the date of appointment of the Director. If a successor to the Director has not been named as of the date of expiration of the Director’s term, the Director may serve for not more than an additional 1-year period, beginning on the day after the date of expiration of the Director’s term, or until a successor has been appointed under subsection (a), whichever occurs first. The Board shall make recommendations to the President with respect to the appointment of a Director under subsection (a). ; in subsection (d), by striking productivity and leadership and inserting productivity, leadership, and support for wide dissemination and evidence use ; in subsection (f)— in paragraph (2), by inserting principles of scientifically valid research and applicable before standards ; by striking paragraph
