The Secretary of Energy, in coordination with the Secretary of Agriculture, shall— develop more accurate and efficient methods and technologies to measure and monitor the amount and average lifespan of carbon stored in woody biomass energy feedstocks and building materials; by not later than 2 years after the date of enactment of this Act, publish estimates of the amount and average lifespan of carbon stored in different woody biomass energy feedstocks and building materials, including in short-lived forest products and long-lived wood products; and by not later than 3 years after the date of enactment of this Act, publish an estimate of the total amount of carbon stored in— short-lived forest products; building materials; and other long-lived wood products.
