In this title: The term local approving agency means an agency or unit of a local government that is responsible for the issuance of permits for building construction. The term mass timber includes— cross-laminated timber; nail laminated timber; glue laminated timber; dowel laminated timber; laminated strand lumber; and laminated veneer lumber. The term procuring agency means the Department of the Interior, the Forest Service, or a person that is a party to a contract with the Department of the Interior or the Forest Service, with respect to work performed under such a contract.
The term tall wood building means a building designed to be— constructed with mass timber; and if a residential building, more than 4 stories in height; and if a commercial building, more than 5 stories in height.
