Subparagraph
(B)of section 501(b)(1) of title 40, United States Code, is amended to read as follows: A contract for public utility services may be made— except as provided in subclause (II), for a period of not more than 10 years; or for an executive agency that is, or has a component that is, an element of the intelligence community (as defined in section 3 of the National Security Act of 1947 ( 50 U.S.C. 3003 )), for a period of not more than 30 years, if the executive agency determines the extended period is in the best interests of national security. The cost of a public utility services contract for any year may be paid from annual appropriations for that year. .
