Section 526 of title 10, United States Code, is amended— by redesignating subsections
(g)through
(j)as subsections
(h)through (k), respectively; and by inserting, after subsection (f), the following new subsection (g): The Secretary of Defense may designate up to 45 general officer and flag officer positions for exclusion from the limitations in subsection
(a)and in section 525(a) of this title. . Paragraph
(3)of subsection
(a)of section 501 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017 ( Public Law 114–328 ; 10 U.S.C. 525 note) is hereby repealed.
