In this Act: The term covered establishment means— an official establishment (as defined in section 301.2 of title 9, Code of Federal Regulations (or successor regulations)) that is subject to inspection under the Federal Meat Inspection Act ( 21 U.S.C. 601 et seq. ); and an official establishment (as defined in section 381.1 of title 9, Code of Federal Regulations (or successor regulations)) that is subject to inspection under the Poultry Products Inspection Act ( 21 U.S.C. 451 et seq. ).
The term covered period means the period beginning on the date of enactment of this Act and ending on the date that is 90 days after the date on which the COVID–19 emergency is lifted. The term COVID–19 emergency means the public health emergency declared by the Secretary of Health and Human Services under section 319 of the Public Health Service Act ( 42 U.S.C. 247d ) on January 31, 2020, with respect to COVID–19. Unless otherwise specified, the terms employee and employer have the meanings given those terms in section 3 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 ( 29 U.S.C. 652 ).
