Subsection
(b)of section 1684 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2024 ( Public Law 118–31 ; 10 U.S.C. 2271 note) is amended— by inserting the after shall be ; by striking for Milestone A approval (as defined in section 4211 of such title) ; by striking The Secretary of the Air Force and inserting the following: The Secretary of the Air Force ; and by adding at the end the following new paragraph (2): The service acquisition executive for the Air Force for space systems and programs shall appoint a program executive officer, and designate an office, for the acquisition of space-based air and moving target indication systems. . Such section is further amended— by redesignating subsection
(c)as subsection (d); and by inserting after subsection
(b)the following new subsection (c): Not later than May 31, 2025, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff shall— designate a date by which the space-based ground moving target indication system will achieve initial operational capability; and notify the congressional defense committees of such date. .
