Chapter 29 of title 18, United States Code, as amended by section 161(b), is amended by adding at the end the following new section: It shall be unlawful to remove, without appropriate authorization, any funds or any other item of value from an account maintained for the benefit of a candidate for Federal office or the candidate’s political committee (as such term is defined in section 301 of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 ( 52 U.S.C. 30101 )). Any person who violates subsection
(a)shall be fined not more than $250,000, imprisoned for not more than 5 years, or both. . The table of sections for chapter 29 of title 18, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new item: 613. Theft from political committee. .
