Section 317G of the Public Health Service Act ( 42 U.S.C. 247b–8 ) is amended by adding at the end the following: The Secretary may, no later than 120 days after the end of an individual’s participation in such a fellowship or training program, and without regard to those provisions of title 5, United States Code, governing appointments in the competitive service, appoint a participant in such a fellowship or training program to a term or permanent position in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. .
