It shall be the policy of the United States— to promote continued adherence to the democratic principles and norms of the Inter-American Democratic Charter; and to advance diplomatic initiatives in coordination with the Organization of American States and its member states to address threats to the integrity of the Inter-American Democratic Charter and to democratic institutions in the Americas.
