Subsection (b)(1) of section 2202 of the Homeland Security Act of 2002 ( 6 U.S.C. 652 ), is amended by inserting The Director shall be appointed for a term of 5 years. after who shall report to the Secretary. . The amendment made by subsection
(a)shall take effect on the earlier of— the first appointment of an individual to the position of Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection Agency of the Department of Homeland Security, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, that is made on or after the date of enactment of this Act; or January 1, 2022.
